Well I have some more good "news"... My project may indeed receive some newspaper coverage for the progress I have made on it so far :) Some of you readers have told me that you think what I'm doing would be newsworthy, and the more I've plugged away at it, the more unique I realize my endeavor is. So after I wrapped up the Maryland Eastern Shore portion of this project (which in my opinion is a newsworthy endeavor in of itself, and my reasons for that can be read at nauseum in some of my earlier entries), I called up the sports department of a popular local paper, and once I touched base with them, they told me I could submit a blurb to the paper on what I'm doing and about the progress I have made so far. I did not intend to have made as much progress as I have in only three-and-a-half months, and I guess in that time it did not occur to me to go to the press until I was finishing up all nine counties on the Maryland Eastern Shore (and since it took me almost the whole month of June to get a Worcester County running event in, completing the Maryland Eastern Shore took longer than I thought, but I was fortunate enough to get other counties in during my more immediate goal of completing my "Tour on the Shore".
Anyway, I'm excited that the folks at the paper think that this may be worthy of putting in the newspaper as well, so I've prepared a little piece about my running endeavors this year as well as a picture to go along with it. I tell you, it certainly felt a little awkward doing a newspaper article-like piece on myself, after spending several years on the Salisbury University Flyer writing about other people, things, and groups. But we'll see how it goes, and I will update on here how things go with it. There's this one saying that seems to fit my thoughts on this that says something like, "shoot for the moon, because if you miss, at least you'll be among the stars." I remember hearing that for the first time (as I recall) at a Boy Scout meeting in the Boy Scout Troop I am involved with. I feel that after I submit this piece and things do not work out, it happened for a reason and that at least this kind of endeavor probably gained someone's attention or interest.
I just want to let any media groups that are willing to give my project and endeavors some coverage know, that I am very much appreciative for your respect, attention, and support you are giving to me and my unique quest throughout Maryland!
Everyone, thank you all very much for reading and your continued support!
"Shoot for the moon, because if you miss, at least you'll be among the stars."
